【摘要】 Centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps have differing hydraulic designs, which results in unique application considerations that affect which type is best for an application. Centrifugal pumps utilize a rotating impeller to impart kinetic energy to the applicable fluid, and the fluid exits the impeller radially. The performance of a centrifugal pump is such that the flow rate is variable as a function of system differential pressure or total head. This means it can achieve variable flow while operating at a constant rotational speed (Image 1). Additionally, centrifugal pumps shear the liquid they are pumping; therefore, their performance is significantly affected by the liquid viscosity.

【摘要】 This technology increases energy efficiency and production in dry climates. Evaporative cooling of the inlet air flow to gas turbines has been used successfully for several decades to boost output, especially in the warm summer months. However, this technique has not been widely used to cool the inlet air flow to air compressors. In a hot and dry climate, evaporatively cooling the inlet air flow can increase the mass flow through a compressor by 6% or more. In a humid environment such as the United States Gulf Coast, the air mass flow can be increased by 3%. Cooling the air also reduces the power consumed by the compressor.
