文摘:Predicting the efficiency of an oil pump before the main design stages is desirable. The tooth profile can be designed using not only theoretical approaches but also the experience and implicit knowledge of the skilled engineer. Many design factors must be considered, such as the torque efficiency, volumetric efficiency and oil leakage from the seal area. However, the factors are intricately related with each other, which makes improving the design difficult. This paper proposes a visualisation approach that uses numerical simulations to analyse the motion of a trochoid oil pump and predict its efficiency based on the geometry of the gaps between the teeth of its rotors. In the visualisation approach, the rotation and shifted motion of the rotors are considered to simulate the real pump as accurately as possible. The proposed visualisation approach was applied in numerical simulations to predict the efficiency of four rotor combinations. Experiments were performed using a real pump with the same rotor combinations as in the simulations to evaluate the prediction accuracy. The results showed that the proposed approach could be used to approximately predict and analyse some of the features of the oil pump.
